‘Semele’ Gives Opera Season a Strong Start

PITTSFIELD – A sold-out house hailed Berkshire Opera Company’s opening performance of Handel’s “Semele” Saturday evening at the Koussevitzky Arts Center. Harpsichordist Caren Levine added evocative flourishes to Juno’s scheming (sung by Stephanie Blythe), and partnered the principal cellist in some solid continuo playing.
